Some information you should know before finalizing your college for the bpt course. Let’s understand by knowing,

What Is the BPT Course?

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is a 5-year undergraduate professional medical program which includes 4 academic years plus a 1-year mandatory internship. It is designed as such to train students in physical therapy techniques, rehabilitation sciences, and clinical patient care. It prepares you to become a licensed physiotherapist who can work in hospitals, clinics, sports facilities, and even start your own practice.

These students receive in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical clinical training in bachelor of physiotherapy courses which help them to prepare for real-world healthcare challenges.

Recently in 2024 , the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) approved Competency-Based Curriculum for Physiotherapy (2025) which changed many things including the duration from 4.5 to 5 years. Now the Bachelor of physiotherapy duration is 5 years. This change brings the Bachelor of physiotherapy program in line with the MBBS degree, reflecting the growing importance and complexity of physiotherapy in India’s healthcare system.

Private Colleges have quite high fees. They provide better infrastructures and may offer better classrooms and labs but might lack heavy patient flow which is quite seen in the majority of private bachelor of physiotherapy colleges. Some private colleges have frequent faculty changes which become hectic for students. So to decide any private colleges , do question them with all possible ways like fees , curriculum, faculty and batches ( whether they had passed out students or they newly launched bpt course ). I would suggest to go , and personally ask your seniors about each and every detail , they might give you information better than any staff. You might ask how I can reach a senior studying in college. Visit the college you want to enroll in and ask them.
