10 Terrible Back Pain Reason

Traumatic Reason

Any trauma that leads to Back Pain. This trauma can be a whiplash injury, spin fracture, Strain, Sprain,  dislocation, or compression of one or more of the vertebrae. A gunshot accident or any knife wound that penetrates and cuts the spinal cord also can cause a spinal cord injury. These are the traumatic causes of Acute or chronic Back Pain

Inflammatory Reason

Bones, muscles, and joints can weaken over time. It is due to aging, overuse, or pre-existing pathology. Many conditions make these structures weak such as intervertebral disk herniation and degenerative disk disease which lead to Back Pain.

Referred Pain 

Referred pain occurs in the body’s internal organs such as the liver, pancreas, and intestines. This pain is caused due to inflammation in various internal organs. Sometimes the pain radiates to various regions of the spine. Examples

  • Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Gall stones
  • Pancreatitis.
  • kidney pain
  • Urinary tract infection,

Postural Reason 

  • Spending long hours in an upright position can cause the Back Pain.
  • Pregnancy
  • Long-sitting occupations  such as office workers, Gamers, UPSC aspirants, etc
  • Operating motor vehicles such as delivery men has a high chance of back pain 
  • Heavy lifting, repetitive lifting (both heavy and light items), overhead work, and whole-body vibration have higher risk of work-related back injury.
  • Habitual bad posture can also lead to Back Pain.

Functional Back Pain 

Functional back pain is also called back spasms. It is characterized by sudden tightening of your back muscles. This causes pain ranging from mild to severe which people often describe as being deep and throbbing. It can occur due to overuse of your back muscles. The back muscles suddenly seize up. Sometimes, Stress and anxiety can also cause an upper or lower back spasm in some people.

Infection Reason

Infections are caused by bacteria or fungal organisms and can occur after surgery. Most postoperative infections can occur between three days and three months after surgery. Vertebral osteomyelitis is the most common form of vertebral infection after surgery. The infection can be spinal epidural abscess, which is an infection that develops in the space around the dura (the tissue that surrounds the spinal cord and nerve root). 

Young patients are majorly affected by soft tissue infection which is rarely seen in older people.

Metabolic Reason

According to Jae Yong Ha in his survey data says that the prevalence of metabolic syndrome was higher in patients having chronic low Back Pain who were female, who were of an advanced age, and who had a high BMI. Hereafter, in the treatment of patients having chronic low Back Pain, These factors related to metabolic syndrome should be evaluated.

 Calcium and bone metabolism can cause  symptoms. Osteoporosis, osteosclerosis, and osteomalacia are other examples.

Tumor Reason

Tumors are abnormal growth of cells. Tumors may be benign (not cancer) or malignant (cancer). Such as spinal tumors affecting the bones or vertebrae of the spine.  The tumors that begin within the spinal cord or the covering of the spinal cord (dura) are called spinal cord tumors.

Psychiatric Reason

Back Pain which is  lasting  for more than 3 months has pain negative impact on an individual’s emotional, physical, and mental well-being, they may develop additional symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. 

 Many people falsely use back pain as a backup plan just to gain external benefits by avoiding work or responsibility,  avoiding trial (In law), seeking attention, leaving school, and getting leave a job, among others.

Congenital Reason

Some of the more common congenital disorders are spina bifida, congenital scoliosis, vertebral stenosis, lumbarization, sacralization, spondylolisthesis, torticollis, and lordosis Which cause Back Pain.

 Spina bifida

A  congenital condition in which the spin and spinal cord do not completely develop inside the placenta which creates the spin gap.

Congenital scoliosis

A congenital condition in which a baby is born with sideway curvature of spin which is the leading cause of Back Pain in the adult period.

Spondylolisthesis

A congenital condition where there is a defect in the vertebral processes. This condition is also denoted as dysplastic spondylolisthesis.

Torticollis

Also denoted as wryneck. It is a  congenital condition where your baby’s neck muscles cause their head to twist and tilt to one side. 

Lordosis

Majorly congenital lordosis is any trauma/injury occurring during the pregnancy period that can lead to a change in the shape of the spine.
